WHAT WE STAND FOR

Our Mission

Our mission at Fellowship of Christian Athletes Called Up Baseball Camps is to create an environment where kids can grow in their love for the game of baseball while also being encouraged in their spiritual walk.

We accomplish this by providing high-level, professional baseball instruction from experienced coaches. Each day of camp also includes dedicated time for Bible teaching and character development, helping athletes grow both on and off the field.

A Greater Purpose

In baseball, everyone wants to be “called up” - whether from JV to varsity or from the minor leagues to the majors, every player hopes for that moment. But the truth is, we have all been given a greater “Call Up.”

Through Jesus Christ, we are invited into a relationship with Him and offered the gift of eternal life. As Romans 10:9 teaches, this invitation comes through faith in Him.

While giving our best effort on the field is important, our performance in baseball is temporary. What ultimately matters most is whether we respond to the call of God and place our faith in Jesus Christ, the One who offers us eternal life and purpose beyond the game.

NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER

It is important to us at FCA to teach our players that developing discipline and character can greatly impact their life beyond the game. Baseball is a great environment to develop these values. As much as I love the game of baseball, there is much more to life than baseball. My professional baseball career lasted longer than most, but it eventually came to an end.

At Called Up Camps, we teach each player to love the game and play it to the best of their ability. We also teach kids that there is something beyond baseball that we should place our faith and hope in. Baseball is a great game, but a terrible god. If we put our hope and faith in the game of baseball, it will eventually let us down. Whether it’s a strikeout, getting cut from a team, or a career-ending injury, we must keep baseball in its rightful place.

When a player understands this, they are better prepared for whatever pitch life throws their way.

We look forward to having your player enjoy our camp, our staff, and the lessons they will take from their experience with us. It will be an experience they will never forget.

BEN ORR, Ministry Director and Camp Founder

FROM A PARENT

"This is a brilliantly conceived ministry. We see this camp evangelizing to non-Christian players and their families. You also reinforce the truth and excitement of the Gospel in the lives of players from Christian family. Just as important, you are training the young men who are coaches how to evangelize and mentor others. You do all this without sacrificing the baseball training side of the camp. Clayton really improved his baseball skills and we see how the level of baseball skills taught in this camp can really draw non-Christian players."

HOW DID WE GET HERE?

History of FCA Called Up Baseball

Fellowship of Christian Athletes Called Up Baseball Camps began in 1999 as the Hansen and Orr pitching clinics. In 2001, the first Ben Orr Baseball Camp was held at Biola University, marking the beginning of what would become a growing ministry through baseball.

The vision for the camp came to Ben during a Sunday church service, where he felt a calling to use his platform as a professional baseball player to impact youth in his community. His goal was to create an environment where athletes could receive high-level instruction from college and professional coaches while also being introduced to a life of faith and purpose.

From the beginning, the mission has been twofold: to develop players on the field and to help them understand what it means to live a life that honors God. The camp continues to focus on building both athletic skill and character, with an emphasis on long-term impact beyond the game.
