Our mission is to develop players and coaches in athletic and spiritual excellence for the purpose of transforming families and baseball culture for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Objectives

• Prepare and develop athletes to reach maximum potential and perform with 100% effort in a way that honors the Lord.

• Develop and demonstrate character, leadership, service and excellence on and off the field.

• Positively and significantly impact and disciple baseball players, coaches, and families while influencing umpires, leagues, and opposing teams.

BIO: Jesse Lopez is entering his 2nd season with the Catch. He will be head coach of one of the 14u Catch teams. Jesse was introduced to the FCA Baseball Ministry in 2022 when he joined the Catch Youth Team program as an assistant coach. Jesse played two seasons of Junior college baseball as a standout outfielder at Cypress College and two seasons at Division 1 Long Beach State University.

BIO: Ben graduated from La Mirada High School and Biola University. He was the CIF Player of the Year at La Mirada in 1996 where his team won the Division 3 title. As a two-way player (Pitcher and First Base) in college, Ben earned all Golden State Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 1998 and 2001. He was a 2-time All-American at Biola and went on to sign a professional contract with the Chicago Cubs.

Over the past 19 years Ben has coached from the recreation to the college level. Ben’s coaching career started as a graduate assistant at Biola University back in 2003 and he also served as the pitching coach at Whittier Christian High School from 2011-2012 and 2020. Ben has coached recreation ball from the ages of 3-12 years old including the 10U La Mirada Coyotes Select Team and most recently the 12U FCA Catch. In the 2021 Season his Catch team won the Baseball Nationals in Reno/Tahoe and in the 2020 season the his Catch team placed 8th in the USSSA World Series and 16th in Cooperstown, NY. Ben is the Ministry Director for Southern California FCA Baseball. He loves developing the hearts and minds of his athletes and desires to see them all follow hard after Christ!

BIO: Bryant Durflingher is entering his 1st season with the Catch. After serving as an assistant varsity coach at Calvary Chapel Downey and a JV coach at St. Paul High School he will now continue as an head coach for the 13u team. At the collegiate level, Bryant pitched one season for Hope International and one season for Cypress College. He views coaching as an opportunity to be a witness for the players and their families. He also sees this as a chance to combine his passions for serving the Lord and for coaching baseball by leading this group of young men.
